Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) can occur in any part of the urinary system (e.g. kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra). Women are at greater risk than men. Infection can be painful. Accurately describing this pain, so that physicians can provide appropriate treatment, can be problematic in some cultures and communities. The most common descriptions include "p***ing razor blades", or "broken glass", or "red hot pins". This image was one of a series developed for pharmaceutical company Merck Sharp & Dohme. They enabled women to point to them, without having to say the words, so that they could seek suitable treatment.
