AFTER completing my art and design foundation course at Newcastle-upon-Tyne's College of Art and Technology I studied for my degree in graphic design at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University).
I then headed to London to begin my career at Sharps Advertising (later to merge with Saatchi & Saatchi) before joining other leading global agencies, including Grey (WPP), FCB (Interpublic Group) and TBWA (Omnicom Group).
Although I started in graphic design I quickly switched over to art direction, and the positions of senior art director, creative group head, deputy creative director and creative director came quickly as my career progressed.
Somewhere on my journey I started writing copy, too, and this developed into a significant aspect of my role.
Based primarily in London and partly in New York, I have also worked in many other major world cities, as required, on the broadest range of creative assignments imaginable, including:
- new product development
- logo design
- packaging design
- branding and brand strategy
- photography
- 3D visualisation
- image editing and manipulation
- digital
- experiential
- copywriting/scriptwriting
- tv, film, and video production
- proposition development
- key message development
- creative strategy development
- ad campaign development, and
- integrated communications planning
